Ronald David Paul – Potomac Banker and Real Estate Entrepreneur
After graduating from the University of Maryland, Ronald David Paul worked as an accountant and bookkeeper before opening Ronald D. Paul Companies, a real estate firm, in 1983 and EagleBank in 1998. Ronald David Paul, a former executive at EagleBank, was integral in making the financial institution a leader in community banking and a top bank nationwide.
Coopers and Lybrand hired Mr. Paul in 1978 as an accountant, and Middle States Construction hired him in 1980 as a bookkeeper. In 1983, he established his business, Ronald D. Paul Companies, a real estate venture specializing in property management and investment in various businesses and real estate projects.
As CEO, chairman, and president until 2019, Mr. Paul grew the bank to $8 billion, making it a top financial institution in the country. His banking and business acumen influenced his invitation to testify before Congress on banking-related issues. He has also spoken at forums on how to build a thriving community bank.
In the community, Mr. Paul has always been very focused on philanthropy- giving back. At 28 years old, Mr. Paul was diagnosed with kidney disease ultimately needing a kidney transplant in 1990. He was very fortunate to receive the kidney from his brother Steven. include donating to charity and volunteering his time to various organizations. He contributed to the launching of the Ronald and Joy Paul Kidney Center at George Washington University Hospital, which promotes kidney disease education and educates the public on transplantation.
